Long-Term Review of Aqualuxe
I've owned an Aqualuxe for almost 6 years. Here's an honest summary of my experience with it: What I Like: • Attractive, sleek design • Quick-release hose connector hos never leaked and makes it easy to remove my Aqualuxe from under-sink for filter changes Truly simple filter changes: twist off the top of tank, remove filter, rinse, insert new filter, twist top of tank into locked position again. • Great leak detector which is crucial for under-sink installations. I've had a few slow pipe joint leaks (not related to the Aqualuxe) that I discovered quickly because my Aqualuxe detected the moisture under it immediately and started beeping. • Knowing that I'm getting the best possible filtration. What I Don't Like: • Filters are extraordinarily expensive • Wifi connectivity is a joke--yes, it connects but has never done anything useful with that capability. I'm happy to see that Multipure has finally downplayed promoting it as a "connected" device. • Filter monitor is a joke. There's a light that's supposed to turn from green to red when your filter is at the end of its lifespan--the light on my Aqualuxe is always green, even when there's no doubt I need a filter change. I monitor the timing of my filter changes by length of time and the flow speed coming out of the tap. It's rated at .75 gpm, which was a big selling point for me, but I've found that new filters slow from that rate pretty quickly. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'd buy an Aqualuxe again, knowing what I know now--but when it comes time to change the filter, the ease and speed of that is when the investment seems most worthwhile. Multipure Response: Charles, thank you for this thorough review of the Aqualuxe system. We agree it is an attractive, easy-to-use drinking water purification system that, most importantly, delivers the best possible filtration. We have found that the replacement filter cartridges are competitively priced when compared with other, similarly performing filter systems on the market. As far as the monitoring function, based on your comments, there may be a hardware or software malfunction that can be fixed. The flow rate of the filter cartridge is largely dictated by the incoming water pressure and levels of impurities in the water, namely sediment or turbidity. With lower water pressure or high levels of sediment, the filter flow rate can be reduced fairly early. We would be happy to assist if you reach out to our Customer Care team (custsvc@multipure.com). We are constantly working to improve our products. The Aqualuxe has been our most ambitious drinking water treatment system design in the 50+ year history of the company and we take customer feedback (such as yours) into account as we make changes and improvements to our products. Thank you again for your review.
