HOW TO USE A SYSTEM IN AN EMERGENCY
- W.E.T. System
- Stainless Steel System
- Aqualuxe
Our Water Emergency Treatment (WET) system provides cleaner, safer water in locations with little to no water pressure. Our WET system comes with 10 purification tablets to sanitize your water source and 2 solid carbon block emergency filters to filter out contaminants and impurities and 2 pre-filter wraps to reduce the amount of sediment clogging your filters (use the netting to hold the wrap in place). The tubing included allows you to siphon into any available bottles and containers. It is important to note that while this system will provide clean water in an emergency, you should still look for the freshest water source you can find, such as a pond or stream.
EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS
-
You will need to use 4 tables for every 1 gallon of water you are filtering
-
If you do not have enough tablets, you can use unscented household bleach that contains 5.25% sodium hypochlorite
-
You will need about 16 drops per gallon. Stir and let it stand for about 30 minutes
-
-
Allow the tablets to dissolve entirely and sit for about 4 hours out of direct sunlight.
-
Thread the fitting into the filter and ensure a tight fit. Gently tug on the tube to make sure the tube is properly fitted in the adapter
-
Once the water is properly disinfected, put the filter in the water and elevate the bucket with the tubing hanging down (about 5-7 ft high). Let the filter sit in the water for about an hour to properly saturate before trying to filter.
-
After an hour has passed, check that the shut off valve is open (the blue handle should be parallel to the tubing)
- To create a syphon, gently suck on the tube like a straw until water begins to travel through the tubing. The first cup of water can be discarded since it will have harmless carbon particles in it.
Multipure’s Aquapremier, Aquaperform, Aquaversa, and Aquamini stainless-steel systems can also be used during an emergency. Your stainless-steel system can be used to filter water in locations with little to no water pressure in a few quick steps.
ITEMS NEEDED
Stainless-steel system (Aquapremier, Aquaperform, Aquaversa, or Aquamini)
2 buckets (one for your source water, one for your filtered water)
Sanitizing Tablets or Bleach

ITEMS NEEDED
Stainless steel system (Aquapremier, Aquaperform, Aquaversa, or Aquamini)
2 buckets (one for your source water, one for your filtered water)
Sanitizing Tablets or Bleach
EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS
-
Remove the lid to your system. (For below sink systems, ensure the cold-water line supply is shut off to your system.) Remove the red tube from the supply valve.
-
Disconnect the blue tubing from the fitting and remove the blue (outlet) fitting by unthreading it from the stainless steel housing. Disconnect the inlet (red) tube and fitting and reinstall it into the outlet port. Reconnect the red tube by inserting into the fitting in the central, outlet port.
-
For countertop systems with a dual hose and diverter valve, loosen the nuts that connect both hoses to the diverter valve and remove both hoses. Remove the larger hose and its chrome connector from the top of the stainless steel housing, leaving the smaller hose connected to the central (outlet) port of the stainless steel housing.
-
For countertop systems with a single hose, remove the hose and chrome fitting from the inlet port of the stainless steel housing. Remove the spout and spout connector from the outlet port of the stainless steel housing. Reconnect the hose and chrome fitting to the central (outlet) port of the stainless steel housing. Remove the diverter valve from the other end of the hose.
-
-
Fill one of the buckets or containers with at least 2 gallons of untreated water.
-
-
Disinfect the water, if possible, using the following guidelines:
-
-
-
Boil the water for at least 1 minute
-
-
-
If boiling is not an option, disinfect the water with household bleach. (5.25% sodium hypochlorite). The American Red Cross instructs 16 drops of bleach be added to every 1 gallon of water to be treated. Stir the bleach/water solution and let it stand for 30 minutes. If the water does not have a slight bleach odor, repeat and let the bleach/water solution stand for another 15 minutes.
-
-
Submerge the lid and filter into the bucket
-
Place the bucket and filter assembly on top of a stable, elevated location (approx. 4- 6 ft high).
-
Grab your second bucket and place it below the first bucket. Gravity is important for the operation of the siphon.
-
Create a siphon to begin the water flow through the filter.
-
-
For below sink systems, suck on the end of the red tube like a straw until water begins to flow through the tube. This process may take several minutes
-
For counter top systems with a hose and diverter valve, loosen the bolt near the diverter valve. Pull the hose until it detaches from the diverter valve. (Make sure you are grabbing the outlet side- blue side). Suck on the end of the white tube like a straw until water begins to flow through the tube. This process may take several minutes.
-
-
Lower the end of the tube to direct water into the clean water receptacle.
-
Once the clean water receptacle is full, raise the end of the hose until water stops flowing, but do not break the syphon.
-
To restart the siphon, lower the tube back to an empty receptacle or open the valve. The siphon can be started again if there is enough source water in the bucket to cover the entire filter assembly.
-
Refill the source water bucket & disinfect (if necessary.)

EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS
- Find a source of water. Although the CBLX filter cartridge is rated to protect from microbiological contaminants in water, try to find the cleanest possible source to extend filter life.
-
Find two water receptacles/buckets: one for the dirty water and one for the clean, filtered water. Fill one of the buckets or containers with at least 2 gallons of untreated water.
-
Disinfect the water, if possible, using the following guidelines:
-
Boil the water for at least 1 minute
-
Disinfect the water with household bleach (5.25% sodium hypochlorite). The American Red Cross instructs 16 drops of bleach be added to every 1 gallon of water to be treated. -
-
-
Assemble the SA913 to the supplied 3/8” tubing. Insert one end of the tubing into the connector and push in to assure a good seal. If you have a 3/8” x 3/8” inline valve, place it at the other end of the tube
-
Assemble the CBLX filter cartridge into the end of the SA913 adapter. Be sure that the nipple of the CBLX cartridge is firmly seated into the SA913.
-
Submerge the filter assembly into the bucket of water, tubing side up. Make sure at least 4 to 6 feet of tubing hangs out of the bucket. NOTE: The SA913 filter assembly may NOT sink to the bottom of the bucket of water. If necessary, place a weight on top of the filter to keep it submerged
-
Place the bucket and filter assembly on top of a stable, elevated location (approx. 4-6 ft high).
-
Secure the clean receptacle to hold your filtered water (Any clean container that can be closed works best.)
-
Place the receptacle container 4- 6 ft below the bucket and filter assembly, yet still within reach of the plastic tube. Gravity is important for the operation of the siphon.
-
Create a siphon to begin the water flow through the filter:
-
Suck on the end of the tube like a straw until water begins to flow through the tube. This process may take several minutes.
-
Make sure that the CBLX filter remains submerged in the bucket of water.
-
- Lower the end of the tube to direct water into the clean water receptacle.
-
Once the clean water receptacle is full, raise the end of the hose until water stops flowing, but do not break the syphon. If you have a valve, you can close the valve on the plastic tube to stop the water flow.
-
To restart the siphon, lower the tube back to an empty receptacle or open the valve. The siphon can be started again if there is enough source water in the bucket to cover the entire CBLX filter assembly.
