Ruptured pipe cuts water in Boston

Everyone knows Boston for its patriotic American history and even the famous marathon, but this time Multi-Pure is racing to help the citizens of Massachussetts with their threatened water supply.

Access to safe drinking water is something many of us take for granted, but this weekend in Boston we learned how quickly that assumption can be proven false.

Millions of people in the Boston area were left without safe drinking water following the rupture of a 10 foot diameter water main. Local officials immediately issued an emergency “boil alert” for Boston area residents because of the unknown contaminants which may have been introduced to the water supply. Although repairs were soon made to the damaged water line, water officials were uncertain how long it would take to effectively disinfect the water supply system.

This chain of events has prompted many Multi-Pure customers and Independent Distributors to contact the company with questions as to how the crisis affects their health and their Multi-Pure drinking water system. Multi-Pure encourages you to adhere to all warnings and alerts issued by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, including “boil alerts” which may be announced.

As a user of Multi-Pure’s drinking water filters, you are helping to protect yourself and your family from dozens of potential water contaminants. However, the Multi-Pure system is intended to be used on treated water, which is microbiologically safe. Please keep the following in mind:

A.) Multi-Pure recommends that you filter the water through the Multi-Pure first, and then boil it as per the city's recommendations. We suggest this because the filter will still reduce levels of contaminants unaffected by boiling such as lead, mercury, VOCs and disinfection by-products. Another short term option may be bottled water.

Multi-Pure is committed to finding a cure

Multi-Pure is known for its blue trademark water drop, but now it's also known for being pretty in pink!

We had a great time Saturday morning with the Southern Nevada "Race for the Cure", an annual event to raise funds/awareness for the battle against breast cancer.

Multi-Pure sponsored two booths at the event, which drew a crowd of about 18,000 participants! We set up an informational booth on Fremont Street near the finish of the race (where everyone gathers before and after the race- huge crowds!) where we passed out free gifts to breast cancer survivors and their guests. Some local distributors and Multi-Pure employees handed out literature & coupons, sold some stainless steel water bottles, answered questions about how to get better water, and generally spread the good word about Multi-Pure.

The company also sponsored a water station on the race course. A local Boy Scout, who was doing his Eagle Scout project, brought a couple dozen volunteers to help us pass out about 5,000 cups of Multi-Pure water to runners and walkers in the event.

All in all, we had some great exposure for Multi-Pure – THANK YOU to everyone who participated or volunteered! What a great feeling it is to know that Multi-Pure water can help contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

While Multi-Pure is busy saving the earth one plastic bottle at a time and improving people's health one filter at a time, our Multi-Pure employees are also out in the community every day making a positive difference...one helping hand at a time.

Last weekend Multi-Pure sponsored one of the houses in the "Rebuilding Together" project here in Las Vegas. Various low-income homes are selected to receive new paint, yardwork, and loving attention by volunteers who give up their weekend to help homeowners make improvements to their property.

Most of the volunteers were too busy working to stop and get in the above picture, but several Multi-Pure staff from Marketing, Customer Service, and Administration contributed to this wonderful project.

Multi-Pure is very proud of its employees and all of the good they do, both in and out of the office!

Our annual Multi-Pure distributor conference was a HUGE hit in gorgeous Cabo San Lucas! We may be a little sunburned and tired from all of the fun in the sun, but we're all in agreement that it was one of the best Multi-Pure vacations ever!

Distributors spent their time renewing old relationships and developing new friendships, snorkeling in the beautiful Sea of Cortez, shopping, attending lively shows each night, eating at incredible buffets and fine-dining restaurants, dancing the nights away, swimming in fountain-filled pools, attending meetings, playing on the beach, playing golf, touring downtown, parasailing, relaxing with a massage, learning Spanish, and napping to the sound of the ocean waves.

A few of our distributors were having so much fun that they didn't make it to our group picture on the beach, but the above pictures show a few of the terrific distributors who kept Cabo hopping for a few days! Each of the distributors who attended the trip will receive a CD full of great photos to remember the fun moments we shared together.

All of the distributors wore t-shirts that said "Ask me how I won this free vacation!" We met people from all over the world who wanted to know more. Everyone wants clean water, so talking to people about Multi-Pure is easy. It's a great feeling to help someone get better water, protect their health and the planet AND earn money all at the same time!

Happy Earth Day on April 22, 2010!

How many coconuts does it take to make a Multi-Pure cartridge? Does that sound like one of those "How many people does it take to change a lightbulb" jokes? Well, the answer is 10! Did you know that Multi-Pure uses carbon made out of coconut husk fibers? It's the safest kind of carbon AND it's biodegradable AND a renewable resource! Yep, Multi-Pure has always been GREEN, long before it was fashionable to be so!

Multi-Pure is a proud partner of "Environmental Education Week" this week, which involves thousands of educators and millions of students across the United States to increase environmental learning and stewardship of our planet.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Multi-Pure and Earth Day this year, a new online curriculum unit has been created which includes free activities and lesson plans that introduce a broad history of the environmental movement. You can also find a Student Fact Sheet which provides facts and figures to help illustrate the intimate connection between water and energy and is appropriate for students in grades 6-12.

The Field Museum's interactive, online Water Calculator provides an in-depth look at water use in the home. As students make their way through the virtual house, they click on various water-using appliances and answer questions about their water use while also learning fun water-saving tips. At the end, the student's total score is compared to both the national average and the average of other water calculator users. Students may also contribute to the Water Stories blog.

Today is former Multi-Pure Vice President of Administration, Paula Rice's birthday! Other than that, most Americans hate April 15th.
